We meet every Monday, with few exceptions, during the school year from 7:00pm – 8:30pm. After opening ceremony, the scouts will separate into their patrol groups to work on achievements and new skills as well as plan for upcoming camping trips. Each patrol is led by two older scouts, a patrol leader and assistant patrol leader, but will also have an assistant scoutmaster as mentor overseeing the meeting. Parents are welcome to attend but we request you sit in the back of the room and let our young patrol leaders handle the teaching. Class A uniforms are required at these meetings.

Scouting is an outdoor based organization so there will be plenty of camping opportunities. Campouts are generally once a month and are held at nearby scouting campsites. A few times a year we may also attend larger campouts such as the Brotherhood Camporee and Sabattis. You will need to submit a permission slip for your child with all of the necessary emergency information included before each trip. Scouts will need to pack hiking backpacks containing all the equipment they need to enjoy the camp-out. A list will be provided before each trip, but a general list can be found on the helpful links page. Depending on the type of event, food is provided either as a troop or individual patrols. Camping trip fees will help cover the food and site rental expenses.

Every summer scouts will have the opportunity to attend a week long campout at the Sabattis Scout Reservation, situated on 2,000 acres in the central Adirondack Park. The camp runs for a total of 4 weeks in the month of July, but we will sign-up as a troop for one of those weeks. This is an excellent opportunity to earn a few merit badges and enjoy a week of camping adventures with friends as we explore the several great spots across the reservation.

Every year the troop participates in the Scout Popcorn sale. The campaign runs from August through October, though some deliveries may be made in November for special items like nuts. This is the primary fundraising activity for our troop. All scouts participate in this event and receive patches, a portion of the profits added to their scoutbook account, and other recognitions depending on the amount in sales. Other fundraising efforts may be made throughout the year such as bottle drives.

This is our recognition ceremony, held three times a year at our usual meeting place. All Scouts who have moved up in rank (except Eagle Scout), or who have earned merit badges since the last court of honor, will be acknowledged. This is a formal event that invites family members and friends to come and watch their scout be recognized for their achievements. A short gathering with snacks and beverages will take place following the ceremony.
